We will meet with you to evaluate your property to see if it's something that should be appealed or not. If after this meeting we determine it's better that you don't file an appeal, we will tell you at that time.
Classification change - if after discussion of your property it is decided that a classification change is needed, we will handle all of the necessary work that needs to be done. We will then handle the appeal and present the evidence we have accumulated. After this classification change is awarded, we will continue to do the necessary work for your property to maintain the new classification.
We will meet with you to evaluate your property to see if it is something that should appealed or not. If after this meeting we determine that it is better that you do not file an appeal, we will tell you at that time. Many times it is better not to file an appeal as your tax could raise if certain information is submitted to the appraiser's office.
If we feel you have a valid reason to appeal and we commit to taking your case, our payment will be based on a percentage of what we save you. If we are unsuccessful in obtaining a reduction for you, no appeal fee is due to us.
Founded in 1989 as The Douglas R. Knop Agency, Doug Knop decided to protest the valuation of his office building. Going in cold, he quickly determined that he needed to become a student of the appraisal system, learning what information to provide to the appraisers to aid in acquiring a reduction in his property tax. He went back during the next appraisal cycle and was able to receive a sizable reduction in his taxes. He realized there was a need for experienced property tax representation and he earned a reputation as an honest person who would diligently represent those who asked for his help. He handled the occasional commercial building, but went on to specialize in vacant ground appeals because of the high value being placed on such ground. As a result, he was able to save the individuals he worked with millions of dollars in property taxes while making sure the correct classification was assigned to their property. He also worked to maintain this classification to ensure that this tremendous reduction in tax continued.
Beginning in the mid 1990s, Brodie and Brom Knop, Doug's two sons, became involved in the business, mostly as laborers or doing clerical work in the office on a part-time basis. Starting in 2008, both Brodie and Brom joined The Douglas R. Knop Agency full-time, conducting all aspects of the business. The company continued growing as a three-person operation until Doug's retirement at the end of 2024.
Officially in 2025, Brodie and Brom Knop purchased The Douglas R. Knop Agency from Doug and will continue forward as Knop Consulting, LLC, providing the same service with the same honesty and integrity as they have since 2008, and that Doug has since 1989.
